Fresh Taste: Playing a Part in Bringing Lansing Back

Hey all! We had the most amazing time during Lift Up Local week. After spending so many weeks indoors and isolated, a daily dose of live performance art was welcome. As with our anniversary show, we worked hard to make sure these performances were done safely. We couldn’t have asked for a better week!

We posted up outside Soul Nutrition each day at 11 am. If you haven’t been to Soul Nutrition yet, please do your taste buds a favor and pay them a visit next time you’re craving a shake or tea; their menu is extensive and everything they make tastes magical. I can personally vouch for their Strawberry Shortcake shake, which pairs well with live fiction readings. From our spot outside Soul Nutrition, we could see the bustling forces of nature that make this city great; essential workers headed to and from work, protestors carrying signs, and even some of the lovely folks from Downtown Lansing Inc. They were hard at work creating a park space on the sidewalk where folks can relax together while maintaining social distancing practices.

The world has felt bleak and small these days. It was so nice to venture into the world again with some friends and share our work safely. We got to hang with dancers, a hula hoop artist, a saxophone quartet, writers, and painters, to name a few! All of the artists, as usual, were amazing. Time after time, we are humbled by the sheer amount of talent in Lansing, as well as the kindness with which the artists here conduct themselves. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate and share space safely. We hope that you all are staying healthy and happy and that we can see you again sometime soon!
